Japan

I first visited Japan in the 1970’s and was immediately drawn to its people, the culture and its beauty.  Having returned many times I am always beguiled by its charm.  This photography is about interpreting the landscapes and ancient dwellings of these lands.  As part of this interpretation, it is also about imagining the 17th century poetry of Matsuo Bashō in the soft, springtime light of the Nakasendo Trail, the primary road between Kyoto and Tokyo during Samurai Japan.
